Every provider in this index lists its scope as Online or Global. That is the nature of cloud sandboxes: they run on servers reachable over the internet rather than inside a local data centre you control. This guide explains the factors that matter when your agent team works across regions, time zones or compliance boundaries.

Latency is the first consideration. A sandbox in a data centre far from your agent introduces network delay on every file read, write and API call. This index does not record regional latency. When you are comparing providers, ask each one about the regions where their sandbox servers are located and whether you can choose a region at sandbox creation time.

Data residency is the second factor. Some industries and public-sector organisations require that code and data stay inside a specific country or region. A few providers in the index offer self-hosted deployment or BYOC, which lets you run the sandbox runtime on your own infrastructure. Check the self-host and open source attributes on each listing. Open source providers in this index publish their runtime under licences such as MIT, Apache-2.0 or GPL-3.0.

For providers that do not offer self-hosted deployment, ask each one where its sandbox servers are located and whether you can restrict data to a specific region. The documentation link on each listing is the right place to start.

Team access and billing is the third factor. Providers in this index bill usage-based, plan-based or hybrid. If you share sandbox access across a team, check how each provider handles accounts, seats and billing. The index records only the billing model: usage-based, plan-based or hybrid. The pricing model attribute on each listing tells you which model the provider uses.

Multi-provider strategies are common. An agent team might run quick interactive sessions on one provider and long evaluation rollouts on another. The compare tool on this site lets you line up isolation, persistence and pricing from different providers side by side. The sandbox cost estimator helps you project monthly bills for each part of your workload.

Compliance and certifications are outside the scope of this index. Each provider states its own certifications and data handling practices on its website. The listing links to the provider's own documentation, which is where to look for SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA or similar attestations. Ask a qualified professional if your use case has specific compliance requirements.

Plan for provider changes. Specs and prices change. The source URL on each listing records the page the facts were checked against so you can re-verify before you commit to a provider.

Questions

Do all providers serve every country?

Every provider in this index lists its scope as Online or Global. That means the service is available over the internet. Check the provider's own terms and data sheet for the list of countries where it operates.

Is a Global provider the same as a compliant provider?

No. Global availability means the service is accessible from many regions, but each provider sets its own data handling, certification and uptime commitments. Review the provider's compliance page for your jurisdiction.

Can I restrict sandbox data to a specific region?

Some providers offer VPC or BYOC deployment that keeps sandbox data inside your own infrastructure. Check the self-host flag on each listing and visit the provider's documentation page for region-locked options.
